An end-of-year reflection: Building what comes next

This year has been one of the most significant in my 15-year journey as a business mentor.

I made the decision to rebrand and tighten up my messaging. "The £1m Business Mentor - with a clear focus on helping business owners scale faster and take back their time, so they can do more of what they love."

The shift wasn’t cosmetic. It represents a deeper commitment to impact, leverage, and sustainability for my clients and for myself.

I still work with clients of all shapes and sizes (it’s more about attitude and opportunity) but this niched messaging is attracting more of the clients that I can help with their personal and professional challenges.

Over the past 12 months, that repositioning translated into meaningful action and progress, including:

  • Evolving my business model to serve more clients without diluting quality

  • Speaking on stages and facilitating workshops within established peer groups

  • Running 18 peer mentoring groups of my own

  • Launching a new high-level peer group for ambitious business owners and leaders

Most importantly, the results achieved by clients across all sectors have been exceptional, particularly given the wider economic landscape. Every client has seen significant progress this year, driven by:

  • Hard work

  • Personal accountability

  • A clear, structured plan rather than reactive decision-making

  • The confidence to act decisively, even when conditions were uncertain

Alongside client work, I’ve been proud to contribute to the Association of Business Mentors mission, where collectively we have:

  • Also rebranded see here

  • Raised awareness of the value and impact of mentoring across the UK

  • Launched new products and training courses to support small and large businesses

  • Seen this work recognised through industry awards

This year has not been without its challenges (what’s new). External pressures have tested businesses across the board and reinforced that no sustainable business is built in isolation.

I want to say a sincere thank you to my team, my clients, and my trusted associates. Your support, commitment and belief have made this year possible.

As we move towards 2026, there is another encouraging signal. Post the Autumn budget (it cannot be a coincidence), my pipeline is busier than it has been for months. Business owners are choosing to go for it, not because the environment is easy, but because they are determined to build resilient, scalable businesses despite the challenges being thrown at them.

There is a huge opportunity ahead for those willing to think differently, lead decisively, and invest in the right support. The foundations are there. The potential is real.

If you’re entering the new year knowing you want more clarity, stronger momentum, or a better balance between growth and time, now is the moment to get intentional about your nest steps.

The hard work starts now - and I’m looking forward to what we build next.

Over and out until 2026.  See you on the other side.
