Why plans and peers matter now for growth

We’re well into week two of 2026 and the expected momentum is already building. New opportunities are already landing, deals are being done, and many businesses, including my own and those of my clients, have started the year with early wins.  It’s not lucky or accidental, it's as a result of the preparation undertaken and having a team in place.

If you read any of my content, you will know that a clear plan is always a starting point. You should know by now, a plan is not a document that sits untouched in a drawer or on a dusty shelf if you want it to deliver.

It should be a practical framework (SatNav for your business if you like) that guides the focus and decision-making of you and your team.

When new opportunities appear, a plan helps you assess them quickly and act with confidence. Without a plan, you will stay busy with the to-do list, keep fighting fires, and get pulled in too many directions at once.  You will justify to yourself why the growth isn’t happening.

Planning is never about control, it’s about having clarity and accountability.
And I will call you out.

Even the strongest plans and the best leaders have limits if working in isolation.

Running a business is lonely.  Nobody to talk to inside the business, nobody to talk to at home… so you analyse and over-think every single issue to the point it stifles action and stunts growth.  From my experience, business owners and members of the leadership team often carry the weight of decisions without a safe space to test ideas, challenge assumptions, or talk through uncertainty.

It’s an untrodden path.  You don’t know what you don’t know.  You're stuck in a spiral that's never ending.

That’s where the experienced peers make the difference.

The right peer group accelerates both personal and professional growth. They help you work through challenges, stress test your thinking and validate ideas before you waste time and resources.  Just as importantly, they help you build confidence through perspective and experience.

Peers also shorten the learning curve.  Many of the challenges you’re facing have already been faced by others.  Learning from their mistakes and successes saves time, energy, and costly missteps.

2026 is already presenting real opportunities for growth.  Opportunity rewards those who are prepared and supported.  A clear plan sets direction.  A strong network of peers strengthens execution.

Growth doesn’t come from having all the answers.  It comes from acknowledging that you don’t have them and asking better questions, surrounding yourself with the right people, and acting with intent to grow.

If you are feeling lonely and fed up of the anxiety and challenges that come with running your business and are wanting to maximise the your results without working every hour, then it’s time to get help before it’s too late.

I am launching two exclusive peer groups in quarter one and with limited spaces left on both, now is the time to act if you want to be surrounded by like-minded experts that will be right by your side.
